Furnace Maintenance in Lake County, IL

Northern Illinois winters don’t forgive a neglected furnace. An annual maintenance visit is the difference between a system that hums along through February and one that quits during the first polar vortex. And we do the full checklist — not a drive-by filter change.

Why Annual Furnace Maintenance Is Worth It

Safety first

The heat exchanger and carbon monoxide checks alone justify the visit. Combustion appliances deserve a professional set of eyes once a year, full stop.

Fewer winter breakdowns

Most January no-heat calls trace back to something a maintenance visit would have caught — a weakening igniter, a dirty flame sensor, a failing capacitor.

Lower gas bills

A clean, tuned furnace extracts more heat from every therm. Over a Lake County heating season, that’s real money.

Longer life, protected warranty

Maintained furnaces regularly reach 15–20 years — and most manufacturers require documented annual service to honor the warranty.

When to Schedule Furnace Maintenance

There’s no wrong time for a maintenance visit — just a wrong interval. If it’s been more than a year since your furnace was professionally serviced, it’s due, whatever the calendar says. The one tip we’ll offer: scheduling before the first stretch of extreme weather beats calling during it, when every HVAC company in Lake County is buried in emergency calls.

FAQ

Common Furnace Repair Questions

How often should a furnace be serviced?

Once a year. Pair it with an AC maintenance visit in the other half of the year and your whole system stays covered — that’s exactly what the Comfort Club handles automatically.

How long does a maintenance visit take?

About an hour for most systems. Older furnaces or first-time inspections can run a bit longer.

Can’t I just change the filter myself?

Please do — every 1–3 months during heating season. But a filter change is maybe 10% of a maintenance visit. The safety inspection, combustion analysis, and electrical testing are what actually prevent breakdowns and catch hazards.

Do you offer a maintenance plan?

Yes — our Comfort Club membership covers your annual furnace and AC visits, plus 10% off repairs, priority scheduling, and more, for $189/year. Join anytime, or ask about it on any visit.
